American Standard Seamless Steel Pipe

American Standard Seamless Steel Pipe is a type of pipe widely used in global industrial sectors such as petroleum, chemical, machinery, and energy. Its standards and materials are governed by well-defined regulatory systems. The standards for American Standard Seamless Steel Pipe are primarily established by ASTM International, the American Petroleum Institute (API), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Different standards correspond to various application scenarios, such as pressure pipelines, structural components, and petroleum extraction.

API 5L: Specification for line pipe, covering seamless (PSL1 and PSL2) and welded steel pipes from ordinary to high-strength grades. Common grades include Gr.B, X42, X52, X60, X65, X70, and X80.

ASTM A106: Applicable to pipeline systems in high-temperature service conditions. Grades include Gr. A, Gr. B (most commonly used), and Gr. C (highest strength). Higher grades correspond to increased carbon content and tensile strength.

ASTM A333 / A333M: Standard Specification for Seamless and Welded Steel Pipe for Low-Temperature Service. This standard is specifically designed for steel pipes used in low-temperature environments, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipelines, cryogenic heat exchangers, and outdoor pipelines in extremely cold regions. Grades include Gr. 1, Gr. 3, Gr. 6, Gr. 7, Gr. 8, and Gr. 9.

ASTM A335 / A335M: Standard Specification for Seamless Ferritic Alloy-Steel Pipe for High-Temperature Service. Commonly referred to as chrome-molybdenum alloy pipes or \”P91/P92 steel pipes,\” they are used in extremely high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, such as superheaters, reheaters, and main steam pipelines in power plant boilers, as well as petrochemical cracking units. Common grades include P5, P11, P22, P91, and P92.

ASTM A519: Standard Specification for Seamless Carbon and Alloy Steel Mechanical Tubing. This standard covers seamless steel pipes for mechanical and structural applications. ASTM A519 includes primary material grades such as 1020, 1025, 1035, 1045, 4130, 4140, 4145, 4340, and 8620 etc.
